Accident at Havelock NB

Summary

2000-01-13: CIGIJ TITAN TORNADO ULTRALIGHT on a local circuit at Havelock experienced a hard landing and lost control of the aircraft. Aircraft contacted the ground Nose first. The Nose and Right Main landing gear was torn from the fuselage and the right gear contacted the propeller. No injuries. This was the pilot's first flight in aircraft type. NIL TSB Update: The pilot recently sold a Kitfox and purchased the Titan Tornado. He did not have any training on the Tornado and it was his first flight in the aircraft type. The pilot felt he over controlled after the initial bounce due to the Tornado's handling charteristics. In particular a more sensitive control feel, substantially different from the Kitfox. Weather was clear with light winds and the airstrip was covered with approximatley one inch of snow. TSB file # A00A0002
