Incident at FREDERICTON INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (Communication navigation surveillance/air traffic system)

Summary

2000-01-06: PA31 SPR501 enroute Saint John to Fredericton was cleared by Moncton Center on approach to runway 27 circle 15. Aircraft received airport advisory from Fredericton Radio and advised they would report VOR and confirm circling runway 15 with an ETA of 1111Z. SPR501 reported VOR at 1106Z and was informed of two runway sweepers on threshold 33 who were told to exit without delay. Aircraft asked to land straight ahead on runway 27 but was requested to overshoot due to runway being 100 percent snow-covered up to 2 inches and vehicles in the intersection. Moncton Center was advised of situation and issued a clearance for an ILS runway 15 approach. Aircraft landed on runway 15 at 11:22Z and reported visibility was lower to the North and his DME and Loran were unserviceable. Nil TSB
