Incident at Calgary, AB


2000-03-23: The aircraft was departing Runway 34 from Calgary on a routine scheduled flight to Ottawa/MacDonald Cartier International. As the aircraft began its takeoff roll the Tower controller advised the crew that there was a coyote on the Runway. The crew acknowledged and advised the Tower that they had the animal as well and continued the takeoff. At rotation the coyote came in contact with the landing gear of the aircraft. There was no damage to the aircraft the same unfortunately cannot be said for the coyote. OPI - Aerodrome Safety UPDATE This airport has an active and ongoing bird and wildlife control program. No special measures were in effect at the time of this incident. The incident was recorded for statistical purposes and possible modification to the wildlife control program, if warranted.
