Accident at Stupart Lake, MB

1999-10-04: C-GFZX, a Cessna 185 with a pilot and one passenger, was enroute to Gillam when it experienced a complete engine power loss. The pilot force-landed on a lake about 2 miles south of Gillam and the a/c ran up onto the shore and collided with some trees. The occupants were not injured, but the a/c sustained damage to the propeller, left wing leading edge and the floats. The operator advised that an inspection of the right fuel cell drain and fuel screen bowl at the firewall found large amounts of water and debris contamination. The operator confirmed that the fuel came from one of it's fuel caches and they are now assessing their fuel supply. OPI - System Safety
