Incident at Fort Simpson Island, NT

Summary

1999-09-23: C-GGHU, a Cessna 206 with 3 people on board, was on approach to the airstrip at Fort Simpson Island when then engine failed and the pilot carried out a forced landing on a sand bar in the Mackenzie River. The a/c was not damaged. Initial reports indicate that the engine may have seized and suffered internal damage. OPI - System Safety
