Incident at Calgary, AB (Conflict - potential, ATS operating irregularity)

Summary

1999-11-16: N8504M, a Beech Bonanza, landed on Runway 16 at Calgary with CNK 55, a Piper Navajo on final behind the Bonanza. Tower cleared CNK 55 to land, expecting N8504M to be clear of the runway. The Controller subsequently decided that N8504M would not be clear as originally expected and instructed CNK 55 to pull up and go around. The pilot of CNK 55 had elected to go around at about the same time as receiving the ATC instruction. OPI - ANS and Airspace UPDATE ANS reported that no further action is required. This occurrence is a normal ATC function to call for a go around if a plan doesn' t work out.
