Incident at Whitehorse, YT

1999-09-14: C-GHQF, a Piper PA-31-350, was inbound to Whitehorse on a VFR flight from Hyland when the pilot reported an unsafe gear indication. The a/c subsequently landed uneventfully on Runway 13R with ERS on standby. The reason for the unsafe indication is not known. OPI - Maintenance and Manufacturing UPDATE M. & M. reported that an examination of the aircraft by maintenance staff found that dirt and contamination prevented the down lock from fully engaging. Cleaning and lubrication of the gear fixed the problem. Pilots and maintenance staff have been alerted to watch for this problem before flight.
