Incident at Winnipeg, MB

Summary

1999-09-07: ACA 179, a DC-9, was on a 4 mile final approach to Runway 36 at Winnipeg when the crew received a TCAS conflict alert. The crew commenced an overshoot and landed safely about 6 minutes later. In a subsequent conversation with ATC, the Captain reported that the alert was the result of a faulty TCAS system.
