Incident at Fort McPherson, NT (Aerodrome - visual aids)

Summary

1999-08-31: The pilot of NWL 100, a Cessna 402, was inbound to Fort McPherson from Inuvik and reported that he was unable to activate the airport ARCAL lights. While circling over the airport, several people contacted the CARS operator, who went to the airstrip and manually turned on the runway lights. The a/c landed safely. The nature of the lighting problem is not known. OPI - Aerodrome Safety UPDATE Aerodrome Safety reported that the Airport Manager states that the electrical system checked serviceable. In addition, several other aircraft were requested to flight check ARCAL and it functioned normally. The Airport Manager is contacting the air operator to determine if problem may exist with the Cessna 402.
