Incident at 25 Miles NW Regina, SK

Summary

1999-08-19: The aircraft had departed Prince Albert enroute Regina. On descent the gear unsafe light illuminated. The pilot conducted a low pass down Runway 31 with the gear retracted to see if there was anything hanging down. All indications were that everything was normal. The pilot selected geardown and the gear unsafe light extinguished and the pilot had a three green indication. The aircraft was landed without further incident. Company Maintenance indicated that this problem had occurred once before and efforts to diagnose the problem failed because of its intermnttance. The aircraft is currently on jacks in the hanger for further troubleshooting. OPI - System Safety UPDATE TSB reported that Saskatchewan Govt. Maintenance Department advised that the gear unsafe indication was a result of a rigging problem. Under normal flight conditions the gear indication was normal, however an increase in airspeed induced enough RAM air/pressure differential inside the gearwell that the gear door was forced down just enough to activate the gear unsafe switch.
