Incident at Vicinity of Brandon, MB

Summary

1999-08-24: The aircraft was enroute Winnipeg from Calgary in the vicinity of the Manitoba Saskatchewan border. The crew experienced a vibration in the right engine. The crew elected to shut the engine down and advised ATC of the problem and requested priority. The aircraft was landed at Winnipeg without further incident. Company maintenance determined after the engine was torn down that the number two low pressure turbine was missing two blades. A complete teardown report will follow. OPI - System Safety UPDATE Maintenance and Manufacturing confirmed that the LP2 turbine failed on the Rolls-Royce Spey engine.
