Incident at Calgary, AB


1999-08-25: C-FTLB, a Beech King Air, was inbound to Calgary from Fort Liard when the crew advised ATC of an unsafe gear problem. They carried out a fly-by of the Tower and it appeared that the gear was down. The crew requested CFR be on standby as a precaution and the a/c landed uneventfully at 2026Z. No other a/c were inconvenienced. OPI - Maintenance and Manufacturing UPDATE M. & M. reported that the operator conducted extensive diagnostic tests to determine the cause of the problem, but were unable to find any faults with the gear system. A new motor power relay was installed with all control and power wires to the relay inspected, cleaned and torqued. A series of retractions and extensions were successfully done and the a/c returned to service. The have been no recurrences of the problem.
