Accident at 1 M SE of Glenside, SK

Summary

1999-07-27: The pilot of C-GYOY, a PA-25, was conducting spray operations near Glenside, SK when the a/c struck a power line. The pilot then attempted to make a forced landing on a road, but lost control and the a/c went off the road into a ditch. There apparently is substantial damage to the gear, propeller and wings. OPI - System Safety UPDATE TSB reported that THE PILOT WAS SPRAYING A FIELD WHICH WAS BORDERED BY A SET OF POWER LINES RUNNING NORTH TO SOUTH AND ANOTHER SET RUNNING EAST TO WEST. THE PILOT WAS MAKING HIS LAST PASS AND CONCENTRATING ON THE NORTH TO SOUTH WIRES. AS THE PILOT WAS ABOUT TO BANK AND PULL UP HE STRUCK THE EAST OT WEST POWER LINES. THE PILOT DECIDED TO SET THE AIRCRAFT DOWN FOR INSPECTION ON A NEARBY GRID ROAD WHEN HE LOST CONTROL AND CAME TO A STOP IN THE DITCH. THE PILOT WAS WEARING A HELMET AND FOUR POINT HARNESS AND EXITED WITHOUT INJURY. THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED DAMAGE TO THE RIGHT WING, PROPELLOR AND RIGHT LANDING GEAR.
