Incident at Winnipeg, MB

Summary

1999-07-22: C-GNOZ, a Piper Lance II, was inbound to Winnipeg (YWG) from Thunder Bay at 2154Z when the pilot reported an unsafe nosegear indication. As the aircraft approached YWG, the pilot was vectored toward Runway 25, then cancelled IFR in order to do a flyby of the tower. Tower observations revealed the nosegear was deployed approximately 1/3rd of full extension. ERS responded. The aircraft landed hard on the main gear, and the nosewheel subsequently extended and held. The aircraft came to a stop safely on Runway 25 at 2255Z. No other aircraft inconvenienced.
