Incident at Calgary, AB

Summary

1999-07-23: The crew of ACA 203, an A320, reported hitting sparrows on take-off from Runway 16 at Calgary. An inspection of the runway was conducted and the mortal remains of 2 sparrows were discovered. OPI - Aerodrome Safety UPDATE Aerodrome Safety reported that the Airport Bird and Wildlife Specialist was aware of this strike. They have an on-going Wildlife Control Program. His report indicates that the birds were identified as cliff swallows, not sparrows.
