Incident at Thompson, MB

Summary

1999-07-16: CAV 2562, a Saab 340, departed Thompson for Winnipeg and shortly after takeoff, the crew reported a "Tail pipe hot" condition. They elected to return and landed safely with ERS on standby. The crew later indicated that the problem was likely a faulty sensor. OPI - Maintenance and Manufacturing UPDATE TSB reported that the sensor was found to be wet. Maintenance dried the sensor with a heater and it was found to be serviceable. Recent rains had apparently been the cause of the problem. This a/c type has had similar problems in the past.
