Accident at Vicinity of Oakpoint, MB


1999-07-13: The pilot of C-GZKB, a Cessna 172 with one passenger, was on a local VFR flight out of the St. Andrews Airport. The pilot declared an emergency after striking a power line in the vicinity of Oakpoint. The a/c landed safely at St. Andrews at 2213Z with damage to the propeller and left wing. OPI - Enforcement UPDATE TSB reported that the pilot was making an approach to a private airstrip when his a/c struck an electrical transmission line. The pilot indicated that he was aware of the wires, but lost sight of them on approach. Damage to the a/c is substantial and includes a punctured leading edge of the left wing, wrinkled upper surface and about two feet of the left aileron torn off.
