Accident at Rusty Springs, YT

Summary

1999-07-06: The aircraft departed Whitehorse, YT on a routine flight to Rusty Springs. The aircraft experienced a hard landing at Rusty Springs - 50 miles south of Old Crow, which resulted in damage to the stub wing and landing gear. There were no apparent injuries. Flight conditions and weather unavailable at this time. OPI - System Safety UPDATE TSB reported that examination of the a/c revealed that the rear spar in the stub wing that supports the gear had failed. After touchdown, the right gear collapsed and the a/c swung sideways, tearing off the nosegear. Damage is assessed as substantial. The two crewmembers were not injured.
