Incident at Lloydminster, AB

Summary

1999-06-30: The pilot of C-FBBE, an Aeronca Sedan, attempted to take off from the intersection on Runway 25 at Lloydminster. He determined that the a/c could not attain flying speed, so aborted the takeoff. He then backtracked to the threshold of Runway 07 and commenced another takeoff run. The a/c got airborne, but was unable to climb because of insufficient power. The pilot was able to make a 180 degree turn and land back on the runway. The nature of the engine problem is not known. OPI - Maintenance and Manufacturing UPDATE M. & M. reported that Lloyd Air serviced the aircraft after the incident and found a stuck exhaust valve. They freed the valve up and the aircraft continued on to Cooking Lake, just outside of Edmonton.
