1999-07-07: A baggage mule operated by M & T Enterprises pulled up along side C-FJTV
, a Saab 340 parked at Rankin Inlet Airport. The driver did not realize how close he was to the aircraft and the roof of the baggage mule hit the side of of the aircraft, thus denting the aircraft in several spots (37 inches). The aircraft was grounded until an AME could be flown in from Churchill to inspect the aircraft. After inspection by the AME, the aircraft was then flown back to Thompson for repairs (No passengers). OPI - Aerodrome Safety UPDATE Aerodrome Safety reported that the operator of the vehicle that hit the Saab 340 is to receive refresher training concerning vehicle operation airside. The training is tentatively scheduled for the week of July 5 through 9, 1999 and is to be conducted by approved AVOP
trainers employed at Rankin Inlet Airport. Until training is completed, the individual will not be allowed to operate a vehicle airside.
