Incident at Brandon, MB


1999-08-24: ABS 703 was on approach to Brandon when the pilot advised FSS that the right main gear down and locked light was not on. The pilot elected to circle until the problem was rectified. ERS was placed on standby at 2235Z. ABS 703 landed safely at 2240Z. A second IFR inbound, C-FDMX, BE 95 was a issued a hold. The delay was minimal. OPI - Maintenance & Manufacturing UPDATE TSB reported that company maintenance assessed that the problem with the gear relates to a switch in the right main gear actuator. The a/c was flown to Saskatoon with the gear down and pinned. The actuator is being changed and gear swings will be conducted to confirm the problem is resolved. UPDATE M. & M. reported that the DOM indicated that it was an intermitent problem. Trouble shooting the system could not determine whether it was the down lock switch or gear actuator switch. Both switches were replaced and the problem has not reocurred.
