Incident at Calgary, AB

1999-06-15: ACA 845, an A340, landed on Runway 34 at Calgary and the crew reported that they suspected a bird was ingested while on 1/4 mile final approach. Airport staff could not find any bird remains on the runway and it is not known if the a/c suffered any damage. OPI - Aerodrome Safety UPDATE Aerodrome Safety reported that while the Calgary International Airport has an active wildlife management program, the property adjacent to the south end of Runway 34 is a golf course. The Airport's program encourages birdies for the golfers, but not for the airport, which enthusiastically supports the wildlife control program.
