Incident at Cambridge Bay, NT

Summary

1999-06-01: FAB 853, a HS 748, departed Cambridge Bay for Yellowknife at 2305Z and 10 minutes later, the crew declared an emergency because of a left engine fire warning. The crew shut down the engine and advised they were returning and a couple of minutes before landing back at Cambridge Bay, the warning light went out. The flight landed safely at 2327Z. Maintenance examination found no evidence of fire and the fire system check was completed normally. OPI - Maintenance and Manufacturing (System Safety referred to Ontario Region)
