Accident at La Loche, SK

Summary

1999-05-31: The pilot of C-IEPX, a Challenger II ultralight, was on a VFR flight from Fort McMurray to La Loche and back. He had just departed La Loche when it was reported that the engine sputtered and failed. The pilot apparently was unable to control the a/c and it departed controlled flight and crashed into some trees. The ultralight sustained considerable damage and the pilot was transported to hospital, where he was treated and released. OPI - System Safety UPDATE TSB reported that after the engine failed, the pilot stalled the ultralight while maneuvering to avoid trees. The a/c received substantial damage and the pilot sustained minor injuries.
