Incident at Winnipeg, MB

Summary

1999-05-25: ACA 180, a DC-9, was taxiing for departure to Ottawa on Taxiway Charlie. The crew had been cleared for takeoff on Runway 36 and when they turned onto the runway, cut the corner too close and the right main wheels went off the paved surface into the soft turf. The crew reported that they might have hit a runway light and proceeded to taxi off the runway onto a taxiway. Company maintenance personnel were escorted to the a/c by the Airport Duty Manager and no damage was found to either the lights or the gear. The gear assembly did accumulate large quantities of mud however. The flight departed Winnipeg about 35 minutes later. OPI - System Safety
