Incident at 45 NM N of Yellowkinfe, NT

Summary

1999-09-13: FAB 8020, a HS 748, was on a cargo flight from Yellowknife (YZF) to Cambridge Bay and was 45 miles north of YZF when the crew declared an emergency. A barrel of fuel on board was leaking and with the help of the loadmaster, the crew re-positioned the barrel to stop the leak. The fuel spill was cleaned up with rags as the flight returned to YZF, where it landed at 2143Z with ERS on standby. One other flight, FAB 862, was delayed for about 10 minutes during the incident.
