Incident at Winnipeg, MB

1999-05-05: The crew of C-GYJB, a Canadair CL-215, was on approach at Winnipeg International Airport (YWG) after carrying out fire suppression work in the Manigotagan area. When they selected gear down, they heard the gear warning horn and the gear did not indicate as being down and locked. They overshot and diverted to the practice area. After consultation with maintenance, the crew elected to return to YWG and landed without incident with ERS on standby. Maintenance found that the left gear wiring had been pinched by the cam roller housing, which had caused the unsafe gear indication. The wiring harness was re-aligned and the a/c returned to service.
