Incident at Saskatoon, SK

Summary

1999-06-14: C-FSVC, a Swearingen Merlin II, departed Saskatoon (YXE) on an IFR flight to Moose Jaw Municipal Airport. When the a/c was about 100 miles southwest of YXE, the crew advised that they had decided to return because of "spongy" brakes. There was concern by the crew that the runway length (2,953 feet) at Moose Jaw may not be adequate if there was any problem with braking, so they elected to return. The flight landed safely back at YXE at 1623Z. OPI - Maintenance and Manufacturing UPDATE M. & M. reported that the "spongy" brake was corrected by changing the "O" rings in the master brake cylinder.
