Accident at Leader, SK


1999-04-13: C-FMRC, a Cessna 180 with a pilot and one passenger, landed at Leader, SK after a VFR flight from Unity and the a/c ground-looped after touchdown. The right main gear strut broke, which left the a/c disabled on the runway. There were no injuries. Regina FSS issued a NOTAM closing the runway until 2359Z, April 8. OPI - System Safety UPDATE TSB reported that the damage to the a/c is substantial and includes the wing, propeller and main gear. The pilot indicated that crosswinds estimated at 35-40 mph contributed to his loss of control during landing.
