Incident at Drumheller, AB

Summary

1999-03-23: Multiple high fliers and local air traffic around Drumheller, as well as multiple SARSAT hits, reported an activated ELT. CASARA Calgary was dispatched to locate the source of the signal and homed it to C-GAMZ, a Cessna 182 parked at Drumheller Airport. The engine was still warm but the pilot was not there and was unable to be contacted. The Ameriking model ELT switch was found to be in the on position. OPI - System Safety
