Incident at Fort Smith, NT


1999-03-17: C-GAIX, a Cessna 185 on skis, was inbound to Fort Smith and the pilot reported that a cable on the left ski was broken. The pilot made three low passes over the airport and consulted with the company before landing on Runway 20, which has no winter maintenance. The pilot carried out a successful landing with ERS on standby. There was no damage to the a/c and the pilot was able to correct the cable problem and taxi clear of the runway. OPI - System Safety
