Incident at Resolute Bay, NT

Summary

1999-03-29: The airport field foreman at Resolute Bay filed a complaint concerning the crew of C-FDHB, a DHC-6, which departed on Runway 17 with a snow blower still on the runway. The foreman, who was operating the blower, reported that although there was no risk of collision, the a/c was airborne just as the blower was exiting at Taxiway A. The CARS operator acted as the conduit for information to the crew from the blower driver, and the driver reported to CARS that he was turning off the runway. The CARS operator then advised the crew of C-FDHB, who advised that they were already airborne. The operator's dispatcher reported that the a/c was airborne before it reached the taxiway and the blower was well out of the way. The Captain of C-FDHB reported that the crew visually confirmed that the blower was clear before they began the takeoff. OPI - Aerodrome Safety UPDATE Aerodrome Safety reported that no further action is required. UPDATE ANS and Airspace reported that the site is being monitored to ensure correct communication procedures are being followed.
