Incident at Fort Smith, NT


1999-02-26: The pilot of C-GTOI, a DHC-2 Beaver, was inbound to Fort Smith and was given the airport advisory with Runway 29 active. The pilot requested Runway 20 and was advised that this runway is not winter-maintained, however, he indicated that the a/c was ski-equipped and had a broken tailwheel. The a/c landed safely but required a tow due to the tailwheel problem. There was no operational impact at the airport. OPI - System Safety
