Incident at Regina, SK

Summary

1999-02-24: C-GKKL, a Cessna 414, departed Regina (YQR) for Prince Albert with 4 people on board and when the a/c was 40 miles north of YQR, the pilot advised ATC that one engine was running rough. He elected to return to YQR and landed without further incident on Runway 13 at 1401Z. No other a/c were inconvenienced. OPI - Maintenance and Manufacturing UPDATE M. & M. reported that the company found low compression on one cylinder. Disassembly of the cylinder revealed that the oil control ring and top compression ring were seized in the piston by combustion products. The cylinder assembly is being replaced.
