Summary

1999-01-27: At approximately 13:39 Z staff 45 (field maintenance foreman) advised the Tower of two large amounts of black smoke emitting from the roof of the Air Canada Cargo Building on Apron 7. The crash alarm was rung at 13:41 Z and Airport ERS responded at 13:55 Z the City of Winnipeg Fire Department was requested to inspect the building. A stand down occurred at 14:07 Z. It was determined that the black smoke caused was caused by a changeover in heating systems. ATC is not investigating further. OPI - System Safety.
