Incident at Saskatoon, SK


1999-02-02: C-GVIW, a Bell 206, departed Saskatoon for a VFR flight to Lloydminster and one minute after takeoff, the pilot advised that he was returning due to an unspecified mechanical problem. The helicopter landed without further incident at 1746Z. OPI - Maintenance and Manufacturing UPDATE M. & M. reported that the pilot observed fluctuating engine torque indications, which prompted him to return to Saskatoon. Company maintenance found that a faulty fuel control unit was the source of the problem. The unit was replaced and the company has submitted an SDR to Transport Canada.
