Incident at Moncton NB


1999-12-31: CGZLV PA30 landing Moncton reported Smoke in the Cockpit. Aircraft landed safely and was followed by ERS vehicles to the Hangar. No Smoke or Fire was visible. ERS stood by while maintenance inspected the aircraft. Maintenance determined that a heater in the Nose Cone had malfunctioned. Incident stood down 2129z. Nil TSB Update: (Note updated times) The aircraft had just taken off from Moncton and requested an immediate return due to Smoke in the cockpit. The smoke was caused by a heater malfunction (blower motor). Brushes were found to be completely worn out causing arcing & sparking. This is a private aircraft based in Ontario region & no records available to determine time on heater motor. An SDR will be submitted.
