Accident at Porter's Lake NS

1999-10-19: CFTUN C170 on floats was taxiing at the end of the lake when a gust of wind caused the wing to hit a tree branch which produced a ripple in the wing. TSB Case Closed Update: Instructor and student were sole occupants as the student was being trained for a float endorsement and was in control of the aircraft. During taxi maneuvers, the instructor noticed that they were approaching too close to the shoreline and took control. The instructor attempted to maneuver the aircraft away from the shore. However, the leading edge of the right wing came in contact with a tree. The instructor taxied the aircraft back to the hangar and both occupants exited the aircraft without injuries. Maintenance personnel inspected the aircraft and found sufficient damage to warrant removal of the wing for repair or replacement. TSB File # A99A0144.
