Accident at NF

Summary

1999-10-05: CGRSK Murphey Rebel aircraft was attempting a VFR departure from a pond situated 4907N, 5413W. On the takeoff run the pilot, while attempting to verify the gear selection, inadvertently turned off the ignition. The pilot immediately switch it back on and attempted to continue the takeoff. The aircraft became airborne but did not clear the terrain at the end of the pond. 2 SOB, nil injuries. The owner reports minimal damage to the aircraft. TSB case closed. Update: The aircraft remained upright and sustained minimal damage. Neither pilot or passenger sustained injury. The ELT was activated and Gander Tower was contacted. A rescue Helicopter was dispatched and transported the individuals to hospital as a precaution. They were released a short time later. TSB file # A99A0133
