Incident at St. John's NF

1999-10-07: ROY7620 B727 landing St. John's Runway 29 (displaced threshold) struck Left Wing and Flaps. Incident reported by vehicle. 0700z Weather: 1700 feet Broken, visibility 15 miles, wind 290 degrees at 38 knots gusting 54 knots. TSB evaluating. Update: The approach was flown to runway 16 which had a displaced threshold and after touchdown and ground spoilers deployed, a strong gust of wind was encountered and the aircraft became airbourne again. The first officer who was flying the aircraft had difficulty controlling the aircraft because of the spoilers being deployed. This resulted in the left and right wing tips, the outboard trailing edge of both flaps and the tail skip contacting the runway before the aircraft touched down again. The CVR and FDR have been sent to the TSB engineering Branch and crew reports have been requested. Further information will be added after this data has been evaluated. TSB file # A99A0132 Correction: The approach was flown to Runway 29 vs 16 shown in the update.
