Incident at St. John's

1999-09-15: SPR915 SW4 departing St. John's for Stephenville was unable to retract landing gear and returned to St.John's. The aircraft landed safely without CFR assistance. TSB Evaluating UPDATE : Company maintenance discovered that the left oleo was flat but did not show any signs of leakage. When aircraft was place on jacks the left oleo did not fully extend ; therefore the air/ground squat switch did not activate. In this condition the weight on wheels protection circuit would prevent the landing gear from retracting when "Gear Up " selection was made once the aircraft was airborne. Maintenance serviced the oleo and returned the aircraft to service. TSB file # A99A0125
