Incident at Belle Isle NF

Summary

1999-08-19: CGCFY BO105 helicopter was slinging a Generator with a Sling Strap and Lanyard when the Ring Bolt by which the Generator was attached to the sling strap failed and the generator dropped into the ocean. The pilot then intentionally released the lanyard and sling strap to prevent it from striking the Helicopter. Note occurrence date July 27/99. TSB Case Closed TSB file # A99A0106
