Incident at Wabush NF


1999-08-12: CME1299 BE1900 called for approach advisory 44 DME south of Wabush at 1012z. At 1017z CFOCU DHC2 floats called on Little Wabush lake for departure southeast bound. This aircraft was passed to CME1299 as possible traffic. At 1019z CFOCU called off the lake. Passed the departure time. At 1021z CFOCU reported crossing the south end of the runway and was asked to report clear of the Control Zone. At 1022z CME1299 reported left downwind for runway 19 and commented that a small plane had just passed underneath him. The pilot was reminded that he is supposed to monitor the Mandatory Frequency after receiving the initial Advisory. Pilot advised that he had been unable to hear/understand the Float plane's transmissions. TSB case closed. Update: The FSS had not passed CFOCU position to CME1299. TSB File # A99A0103.
