Summary

1999-07-21: While on a flight from New York to Shannon at FL370, the crew declared an emergency due to an excessive exhaust gas temperature on the left engine. The crew requested and was granted a clearance direct to Gander at FL290. The crew was informed that St.John's was closer and they requested a heading direct to St.John's with the emergency services to be on stand by. The aircraft landed safely at 02:59 UTC. After consultation with maintenance the aircraft was ferried to New York.
