Incident at Over St. John's NF

Summary

1999-07-23: DAL80 B767 enroute New York to Amsterdam reported strong electrical smell over St. John's. Flight turned to land at St. John's but decided to continue to New York. Flight subsequently declared a Passenger Medical emergency and continued to New York. TSB Case Closed. Update: The source of the smell could not be identified. However, maintenance suspect that it may have been associated with the entertainment system in the first class cabin. All components of that system have been replaced as a precautionary measure and the aircraft has been returned to service. TSB File # A99A0075
