Incident at Charlottetown PEI (ATS operating irregularity)


1999-05-06: ARN845 DH8 landed runway 28 immediately before GIO2245 and the pilot advised that ARN845 would be holding short of runway 03/21 because GIO2245 was on final for 03. ARN845 questioned why they were not advised of the traffic. The Flight Service Specialist assumed that ARN845 had heard GIO2245 call on final since ARN had reported final approximately 10 seconds after on the same frequency. The ARN flight stated that they did not hear GIO2245 call final but did know that the flight was inbound and had cancelled IFR. The ARN pilot felt that the GIO flight was closer than 6 miles when he reported 6 miles final. Both aircraft had cancelled IFR prior to landing. Relevant documentation being reviewed. Nil TSB
