Incident at Approx. 200NM SW Stephenville

Summary

1999-02-08: NWA38 DC10 at 31,000 feet and AAL92P B767 AT 33,000 feet were both enroute eastbound to Schiphol with 1.5 nautical miles longitudinal spacing. NWA38 was issued a climb to 32,000 feet leaving only 1,000 feet vertical separation instead of the required 2,000 feet or 5 nautical miles radar. Nil -TSB. Update: The Gander ACC strip on AAL92P was hilighted indicating that the flight was non RVSM certified. Nav Canada will be conducting an internal review. TSB file A99A0016.
