Incident at Vicinity TRUDY intersection (54nm east of Thunder Bay)

Summary

1997-10-15: The aircraft advised the Winnepeg ACC controller that they were encountering a problem with the aircrafts flaps and required descent from FL330 to FL290. The flight crew also advised that they would be reduced their speed from a filed speed of 429 kts. to mach .65 (or 300 kts.). No further problems were reported and the flight continued to Toronto. TSB Initial Notification A97C0200 supplementary information: The crew reported an intermittant LE flap extention indication and light buffet en route. Maintnance inspection was unable to find any problem with the LE flap system; however, the inspection determined that the left-hand nose gear door was not latching against the stops
