Incident at Orlando, Florida, USA (ATS operating irregularity)

Summary

1997-05-02: CMM303 had originally planned on landing at St. Petersburg, but diverted to Orlando due to weather. When taxiing for departure from Orlando, the aircraft was cleared to position and hold on runway 18L. The crew also reported that an Air Canada aircraft had been cleared across runway 18L. Both aircraft held their position short of the runway as there was a Northwest Boeing 737 less than one mile short final for runway 18L. The information has been passed to the NTSB Miami. Ops.
