Accident at ST. CATHARINES / NIAGARA DISTRICT ON (CYSN)

Summary

1997-04-16: After five circuits, the instructor decided to permit the student pilot to make his first solo flight. The flight was uneventful until the landing roll. The pilot reported that when he applied the brakes, there was a slight vibration. The pilot ceased braking and then re-applied the brakes. The aircraft suddenly veered sharply to the left and exited the runway. The pilot tried to hold the nose of the aircraft up as it slowed, but the nose gear and then the right main gear collapsed. The pilot exited the aircraft uninjured. Inspection of the aircraft revealed no problems with the nose-wheel steering or the braking system. Ops. impact -- unknown.
